Storytelling is Kevin Kramer's passion. He's always enjoyed the attention of an audience. Kevin's parents claim that early in his childhood he befriended an invisible six-foot rabbit named Harvey. The stories about his friend and their travels were seemingly endless and always animated.
Kevin began creatively writing and dabbled in art—both with sincere interest and modest talent—at a relatively young age. Through his teens and college years, Kevin was generally able to entertain his brothers, parents, and friends with stories. Though these stories never misled or deviated from the truth intentionally, they were most assuredly creative and thoughtfully embellished. It's how Kevin would like to be perceived today.
Now in his mid-thirties, Kevin loves to play organized sports with his brothers and friends—mostly because he loves the thrill of competition—maybe more so because he enjoys writing about the travails in a "news flash" to teammates the ensuing mornings. Poking fun at their successes and failures on fields and courts has become the inspiration for many a man to play on. In every game, there's an ample supply of humorous material about which to write. Everyone loves to read about himself—something funny or heralded—Kevin simply enjoys the banter.
A 1991 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Kevin began almost immediately with a career in pharmaceuticals. He's held positions in sales, public relations, marketing, and is currently working in managed care. Constant movement to new positions and experimenting with new hobbies—using any form of storytelling imaginable—has been his motivation to succeed and experience personal growth.
Fiction writing was a fun experiment. It began innocently, and has taken Kevin along a four-year path to complete the conquest. His decade of pharamceutical work experience has led to extensive knowledge of the healthcare system. He describes the intricacies of the managed care marketplace in great detail in his first novel, Coalwater. For the time being, Kevin plans to remain focused on the subject he is most familiar with—the healthcare industry—as the backdrop for his writing.
Kevin resides in his hometown of Vacaville, California, with his wife, Megan, his two sons, Kyle and Shea, his daughter, Gracie, and their dog, Sorin—fittingly named with pride after the dormitory in which he resided for four years, and of which he has many fond memories.
