Children of preschool age love to fantasize. They play and pretend, and they idolize the superhero icons fostered by mass media. Superheroes are most commonly the alter egos of the kids in five year-old Gracie’s preschool class. But Gracie sees the world a bit differently. She knows about school and story time from her older brothers. She kicks off her preschool era determined to share and embellish her stories about the people influencing her real world. She believes they are the true superheroes. She begins on day one at story time with I Think My Grammr Is A Superhero!
About the main character:
Gracie is a four year-old girl brimming with imaginative ideas about superheroes. She has two older brothers from whom she has learned a great deal. In addition, she has a large family support network along with many other key influencers who’ve aided in shaping her thoughts and values. She is eager to tell stories about the people she believes are the real superheroes.
First two pages of I Think My Grammr Is A Superhero with illustrations:
Today is Gracie’s first day of preschool. She is finally four years old. She has two older brothers, Kyle and Shea, and from them, she has learned all about what children do in school. She’s wanted to go to school since she was two. Gracie’s time has come at last. Now she gets to go every day. As she stands by the classroom doorway with her mommy, Gracie is ready to take on her new adventure. Her mind races with lots of exciting thoughts.
Gracie wonders if school is going to be scary or fun. When she’s at home, she watches everyone and everything. She watches her brothers and their friends. She watches the kids in her court play and pretend. Sometimes, she plays too. Sometimes, she watches the television, even though Mommy and Daddy, and mostly Grammr don’t approve. Grammr is always calling the television a boob tube.
